A window casts a light and there’s a mental clearing, even for some small moment // the focus sharpens slightly as movement is applied. This action doubles/triples and you let it drive itself while you get the aux. Vibe is up, windows are down but it’s quick to change like my Karl says “from chill to thrill” and yet the pitfalls are needed, the humility and doubt are integral and humbling. Experimentation and softness of solitary nights / spinning a kettle around in one’s mind to see all sides gives a ground. Mistakes continue and it’s real that “there’s always something” but there are tools to cope and you use them. The groove is synched and cruise control is on but just like that it’s over. You’ve arrived at your destination Stare, sit, smile and strain to snap back to life back to reality and enjoy it alone or with others. The apple is gone but the seed remains; a reminder of one process and the beginning of another.” I am a Portland Maine based spray paint girl. My work acts as a reflection of the life I live and the moments I experience. It is a filter through which I'm better able to understand myself, my friends/family, and the world around me. My work uses repeating and self peripheral symbolism and quotes that carry across multiple mediums; whether its a mural, a painting, a pen drawing, an airbrushed t shirt, or a tattoo, I work out of a visual rolodex in my mind and in my archive to speak to sometimes a specific narrative or theme I'm trying to convey. I use meditation and dream recall to inform my visual language as well as my everyday experience. I take notes on interactions I overhear and images I see in the world, "School of Life". My last mural installation was outside of Over Here gallery in Portland, Maine. The piece is called "Imagine a World" and is a blue toned monochromatic scene of sprites, angels, and plants reaching for the sky where a globe looks hopefully upward. My first time in Providence was in 2011 while on tour playing music. Since then I have returned every year, or even multiple times a year to make art and connect with the large group of friends I have. In the early 2010's I spent most of my time at diy venues and living spaces such a: Al dios, witch club, castlevania, building 16, dirt palace, atlantic mills, etc.. Since these early years I have connected with many amazing artists, musicians, and tatooers which keeps me connected and blessed to return.

I grew up watching my family figure out how to survive in a new country. They struggled, adapted, and made it work. That experience shaped how I see the world and why I make art. I pay attention to people—the way they connect, the relationships they build. It’s something I find beautiful, and it shows up in my work. I paint fast. I don’t overthink it. I let the process tell the story. I make art for my community. My viewers can probably see themselves within my pieces or see their people within my pieces I use spray paint, texture, bold colors, and layered lines to bring things to life. Born and raised in Borikén (Puerto Rico), Rivera has created home and set deep roots in Providence, RI, land of Narragansett and Wampanoag peoples. Rivera is founder of Studio Loba, a storytelling lab for art and culture projects that support social change. They have 15 years of experience in the arts and culture sector, interweaving artistic practice with community development. Rivera is committed to art as a catalyst for social change and honoring community stories and lived experience as the knowledge that can help us craft more just and generative futures. Last year, Rivera was selected for Providence Commemoration Lab (2024-25), a one year residency of social practice art to engage residents of Providence in reimagining commemoration.
